Meet Jose, an Illegal Immigrant who Admires Trump

To everyone’s surprise, it seems that President Trump has, albeit controversy, managed to charm several foreign politicians from opposing nations, especially North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, where they went from exchanging threats over nuclear weapons to shaking hands over the Demilitarized Zone.

And besides world leaders, it seems that Trump has managed to charm someone from another unexpected group of people: illegal immigrants. Only this time, Trump didn’t need to put any effort into doing that.

Meet Jose, a 24 year-old who migrated from Guatemala and declined to give his last name. It does seems strange for Jose to admire a man who wanted him deported, but he mostly speaks about Trump as a role model.

“He’s multi-talented, he does many things like land developer, CEO, TV star, and fashion brand,” began Jose, “and my ex-girlfriends all wear Ivanka’s fashion and follow her Instagram.”

Thanks to her father running for president, Ivanka’s brand has been boycotted by leftists.

“My family and friends, we all seen The Apprentice and Miss Universe before and seen him always surround himself with money and beautiful models from around the world,” he said, “we think that’s pretty cool, how can you not admire that?”

Trump’s success is how Jose envisions the American Dream and America itself, not the immigration detention centers. His mood darkened a little when asked about being asked about the possibility of being caught and then detained or deported one day.

“I know the detentions are pretty bad, but it’s still safer than back home,” he said, “I know it’s illegal but if you always played by the rules, you’ll never be the best. Trump broke some laws, got sued, and still succeeded at the end.”

When asked how he felt threatened by being deported to his world of crime, he stated that he “wouldn’t like it, but that he’ll just try to come again.”

“To be successful, you have to do big things, you can’t be too upset at anything,” he said, “if Trump always gave up, he would never have been a billionaire or a president.”

“I won’t blame him or anyone else for what happens to me,” he said, “What I do should only be my fault and no one else’s, just mine’s.”

“Seeing his success is part of the reason why I took my chance to come,” he said, noting the irony that Trump, in this case, actually encouraged illegal immigration rather than discouraged it.

“But if I end up stuck in Guatemala forever, I’ll stay there and build my own successes if I have to,” Jose said, “He’s also patriotic enough to work for his own country, so I guess I shouldn’t complain if I had to work in mine.”

“And Trump works long and hard, he wasn’t president since day one. He didn’t become rich by living on welfare so I’ll work long and hard too,” he said, “Success and riches don’t come overnight.”

“If he deports me, well, he’s just doing his job,” said Jose, “to be successful, you must get unpleasant things done, you can’t only do what’s easy and fun.”

“We’ll both do our best in life, even if our interests conflict,” he said, “I’m not offended at Trump since it’s not personal, he doesn’t know me.”

“I’m sure if we met, we’d get along or something,” he concluded. “I mean, he even got with Kim Jong Un, which no one thought is possible. With successful people, you never know what’s possible, right?”
