Warren’s Right for Once – Let’s Break Up Liberal Tech Giants

“…we need to stop this generation of big tech companies from throwing around their political power to shape the rules in their favor…”

Elizabeth Warren

Finally, one of Senator Elizabeth Warren’s rants will actually benefit conservatives, although that wasn’t what she had in mind. Yes, I support a free market. But when liberal social media firms are exploiting it to destroy free speech, it’s time to defend the First Amendment. While radical leftists are (falsely) concerned that big businesses are monopolizing the free market, the silent majority are (rightly) worried the same monopoly threatens America’s free speech.

First is Instagram, and its parent company Facebook. Right-wing voices, such as InfoWars, Alex Jones, and Lauren Southern, have been silenced. Meanwhile, left-wing radicals, such as Black Lives Matter, are given a free pass. Is CEO Mark Zuckerberg attempting to bend American political discourse to reflect his personal views? The silent majority shouldn’t be subjected to one snowflake’s Orwellian Thought Police.

Google is even sneakier. In the 2016 election, the search engine was accused of putting conservative websites closer to the bottom of search rankings. In other words, those sites are getting less views since people only tend to view the first few results when searching on Google.

And why should we trust Google to have unbiased search results and play a major part on American free speech, when its internal policy is pro-censorship and extremely liberal, as evidenced by its firing of James Damore over his criticism of affirmative action?

Finally, Google has removed Google AdSense on many conservative sites, resulting in those sites losing the ability to share advertisements with viewers. Is Google resorting to financially starving them?

Even Zuckerberg admitted that his business operates “more like a government than a traditional company.” Thus, America, and not just its conservatives, must hold Silicon Valley accountable for free speech the same way it does to authoritarian governments, such as Cuba and China.

And it’s sad that Warren wants to break up the tech giants for the wrong reason.
