Why Hillary’s Emails are More Sensitive Than Trump’s Tax Returns

“Imagine, Rachel, that you had one of the Democratic nominees for 2020 on your show, and that person said, ‘You know, the only other adversary of ours who’s anywhere near as good as the Russians is China. So why should Russia have all the fun? And since Russia is clearly backing Republicans, why don’t we ask China to back us'”

Hillary Clinton to MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow

Still sore over her election loss in 2016, the two-time presidential hopeful, Hillary Clinton, has half-jokingly asked China to hack into the IRS’s servers to find President Trump’s tax return.

She spent her interview on MSNBC referencing the time Trump joked, “Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”

Attempting to copy Trump’s word choice, Clinton bitterly mocked, “‘China, if you’re listening, why don’t you get Trump’s tax returns? I’m sure our media would richly reward you.’” But the fact that Clinton can closely mirror, from memory, Trump’s original quote from nearly three years ago just shows how clearly the joke is still etched in her mind and how much it emotionally scarred her.

What Clinton conveniently left out, however, is the fact that her email almost certainly contained information crucial to national security, unlike Trump’s tax returns, which only contains personal and business information. It’s a terrible apples to oranges comparison.

Ultimately, Mueller’s 22-month investigation found that Trump’s campaign did not actively collude with Russian intelligence to influence the US election. Likewise, the FBI ultimately did not prosecute Clinton for hiding evidence of its emails and email server, despite using an advanced software called BleachBit to do so.

However, it is suspicious that Clinton was finally alarmed once US investigators were after her emails, and was more comfortable with the likely fact that Russian and/or Chinese intelligence likely also sought the same thing.

Those who seek to be commander-in-chief should not act so carelessly and dishonestly with information crucial to national security. Fortunately, she does not seem to be running for president in 2020 election… yet.
