Leftists Want Affirmative Action on the 1st Amendment, a Constitutional Right

American censorship is on the rise. Google Search has pushed conservative websites to the bottom while Google Adsense shut them down by confiscating their advertisement, resulting in a loss of revenue. Meanwhile, social media giants has banned many conservative posts, speakers, and groups, for “hate” speech.

But a new twist is coming: Affirmative action for any kind of minority group: ethnic minorities, religious minorities, sexual minorities, and the list goes on, becoming more ‘inclusive’ by the day.

However, even the radical leftists have not yet decided what percent the affirmative action would allocate to these specific groups, let alone decide how much media space in general they want to reserve.

Previously, these minorities have created and used their own media outlets, from little informal Facebook groups to large Spanish-speaking broadcasters, such as Univision and Telemundo. So why can’t they be happy as long as ‘the white patriarchy’ isn’t violating their First Amendment? After all, minority media is growing exponentially.

It’s because they want a bigger slice of the pie. White-dominated media, such as the New York Post, Fox News, and Breitbart, has grown as well. So it’s no longer about increasing revenue and audience and being content with self-success; again, it’s about increasing their slice of the pie. Considering that the demographics they appeal to is different, it shouldn’t be a competitive dog-eat-dog world with the white media, unless they want to.

That’s where affirmative action comes in. Ensuring that media from and about ‘underrepresented’ communities will boost their competitivity.

“For too long, we’ve seen silenced by the gringos,” says Julio Lopez, using a derogatory term for whites in Spanish, which is ironically a white European language. “Affirmative action will use the law to ensure that they can never silence us again.”

“I see it as an insurance policy, like a safety net that protects our constitutional right in case the alt-right succeeds in silencing us,” he continued, “if you have an insurance on your car or healthcare, why not an insurance on your freedom of speech?”

Never mind that significant portion of minorities are too impoverished to watch any type of electronic media. Internet connection and TV ownership, among other statistics imaginable, all show that it’s more common among whites.

In the end, affirmative action in the media is a pointless exercise. Sure Telemundo and Univision will most likely get a larger presence, but non-Spanish speakers still won’t tune in for obvious reasons. There will just be a void in the pie occupied by a over-extended minority media that can’t be filled in since there isn’t enough minority.

In other words, what’s the point of having “insurance” that people absolutely won’t even use?

That’s just wasteful. Why not let the free market decide on media?

Because individuals and companies are willing to screw over the rest of America for financial and political gain. That’s not new, especially for affirmative action. Schools and jobs have already been rigged to the benefit of specific groups.

So what’s the difference? Schools and jobs aren’t covered by the constitution, but the First Amendment is. Never before has a constitutional right been in the crossfire of affirmative action.
