President Trump has won Round 1: the Muller reports ultimately declared him innocent of collusion. However, the Democrats aren’t going down that easily, having launched Round 2: claiming that his “obstruction of justice” during investigations are grounds for impeachment.
While Democrats continue to itch for another fight, Trump continues to focus on the American Dream. “Impeach for what, having created perhaps the greatest Economy in our Country’s history, rebuilding our Military, taking care of our Vets (Choice), Judges, Best Jobs Numbers Ever, and much more?” the president tweeted on Monday. “Dems are Obstructionists!”
Trump isn’t wrong. America has reached new heights under his administration, most notably with the unemployment reaching a new low not seen in a half-century. Nonetheless, it seems that Trump won’t be able to rest on his achievements anytime soon, claiming that his opponents’ unhealthy obsession with impeachment would result in them making no progress on other issues that actually matter.
Meanwhile, a White House aide stated that “it’s amazing how much Trump has managed to accomplish with so much weight on his shoulders”.
While that’s true, the Democrats did manage to seriously dent Trump’s momentum on some key issues. Most prominently, Trump’s demand for funding on the US-Mexico border wall resulted in a partial federal government shutdown that resulted in him not getting his much-needed budget approval.
But even that was short lived. Stocks continued to rise and unemployment continued to fall. The president’s approval rate recovered as well, and it seems that the Trump Train is back on track and looking invincible once more.
