Don’t be Sensitive over Trump’s McCain ‘Insult’

Civilian Democrats need to stop being offended on McCain’s behalf.

Trump was notably missing in McCain’s funeral in Sept. 2018

“I like people who weren’t captured”, said Trump in July 2015. But over three years later, Democrats (and others) are obsessing over the remark.

No, Democrats, I won’t deny the comment occurred. But I’d like to share why we should all look at this incident rationally:

1. Petty remarks didn’t faze McCain. Yes, he was truly an American war hero. He survived torture in Vietnam, and refused to be released before other POWs who were there longer. To him, insults are nothing in comparison, but it’s enough to faze his “supporters”.

2. McCain’s supporters weren’t really “supporters”. They just hated Trump more, and they got a free pass for dramatizing this incident.

3. Most importantly: Commander-in-chiefs need high standards. No one knew this better than McCain. Democrats are content with participation trophies in civilian life, but the military pushes people to new limits, to do their best. McCain did excellent in enduring torture. Trump did excellent in setting high standards. He’s truthfully and realistically saying that being captured isn’t enough to win wars. Both men aren’t snowflakes, they’re tough guys.

Let’s not obsess with drama. Let’s not be offended on anyone else’s behalf. Let’s not pick sides.

Instead, let’s rally behind our war heroes and commander-in-chief. United we stand. Welcome to Team America!
